We opened the meeting with an introduction to the Trøndelag region, highlighting its economic structure, innovation landscape, and strategic priorities. This provided the foundation for a broader conversation on opportunities for collaboration across sectors of shared interest.

We were subsequently pleased to host presentations from two of the region’s leading industrial actors.

Stein Mortensholm, Communications Director at SINTEF Industry, gave an insightful overview of SINTEF’s history, its unique research-driven business model, and several of its current flagship projects. His presentation underscored SINTEF’s role as one of Europe’s most significant research communities and a key driver of technological development in Norway.

This was followed by a presentation from Håkon Husby, Head of Investor Relations at SalMar, who outlined the company’s journey from a regional aquaculture company to one of the world’s leading producers of sustainable salmon. He also highlighted the global impact of Norwegian seafood and the industry’s contribution to ensuring efficient and environmentally responsible food production.

Strategic hub

Between and after the presentations, we engaged in constructive discussions covering topics such as energy systems, green transition, industrial development, aquaculture, and future research and innovation needs.

Hungary is an interesting partner due to its role as a strategic hub for market expansion in Central and Southeastern Europe, including the Balkans. Today’s discussions demonstrated potential for strengthened cooperation. We look forward to further dialogue and to exploring concrete opportunities for collaboration
